Businessman and Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s husband Robert Vadra has offered an unconditional apology in front of the court for violating the terms and conditions imposed on travel to Britain, Italy and Spain. Special CBI Judge Nilofer Abida of Rouse Avenue Court on a petition filed by the ED to confiscate a fixed deposit and initiate legal action against Vadra for violating the terms and conditions imposed for foreign travel. Parveen reserved the order on Wednesday.
While Vadra offered an unconditional apology before the court during the hearing, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) said that action should be initiated against him (Vadra). In an affidavit, Vadra said that he had unintentionally made a mistake and wrote ‘via Dubai’ in his application for permission to travel instead of ‘To Dubai’. Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing for Vadra, said, “There is no doubt that I have committed a mistake.” To this the judge said, “You should have taken permission.” Abhishek Manu Singhvi said, “A mistake has been made. I clearly had no intention to mislead. No intention of telling the judge to say X and do Y.” was.” “I apologize unconditionally for the mistake, I’m sorry for that,” he said.
Enforcement Directorate ie ED’s lawyer opposed this argument. ED’s Special Public Prosecutor, Advocate NK Matta said that Robert Vadra was directed to produce the address in the court before leaving India and after returning to India but did not furnish details of the places he visited in the UK. did. To this, Singhvi argued, “The ED did not object to the revised itinerary (which included a stopover for 4 days in Dubai) on August 22, 23 and 24.” Significantly, on Monday, the court had expressed displeasure over the explanation of businessman Robert Vadra that he had stayed in Dubai for a medical emergency during his visit to the United Kingdom (UK) via UAE in August this year.
