Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat met several Muslim intellectuals and discussed with them the recent controversies and ways to strengthen religious inclusion in the country. Among those who met the RSS chief were former Chief Election Commissioner S. why. Qureshi and former Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Najeeb Jung, including many Muslim intellectuals were involved. Sources gave this information on Tuesday.
This meeting has taken place at a time when the issue of Gyanvapi Masjid is being heard in the courts. In the meeting, it has been decided to create a platform to strengthen communal harmony in the country.
Sources said former vice-chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University, Lt Gen (Retd) Zamiruddin Shah, former MP Shahid Siddiqui and philanthropist Saeed Sherwani were also among the Muslim intellectuals who attacked Mohan in a closed room at the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s temporary office in Udasi Ashram in Delhi. Bhagwat met.
Sources said that during the two-hour-long meeting, extensive discussions were held on strengthening communal harmony and improving inter-community relations. However, he said that no controversial issues like the Gyanvapi Masjid and the controversy arising out of Nupur Sharma’s recent remarks were discussed during the meeting.
Sources present in the meeting told PTI that Bhagwat and the group of intellectuals agreed that the country cannot progress without strengthening communal harmony and reconciliation among communities. Sources said, “Both sides emphasized the need for communal harmony and resolving differences between communities. A plan has been prepared to take this initiative forward.”
Sources said there was also a discussion on following Gandhian approach for the overall welfare of the country. In September 2019, Bhagwat met Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind chief Maulana Syed Arshad Madani at the RSS office here. During the meeting, he had discussed many issues including strengthening the unity between Hindus and Muslims and incidents of ‘mob lynching’.
The meetings were coordinated by senior RSS functionary and former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organization secretary Ramlal.
